MODEL "B"

CRANKSHAFT MAIN BEARINGS are ample in size. PITMAN BEARINGS AND MAIN BEARINGS ARE BRONZE BUSHED.

SLIDES have long ways and are accurately scraped to wide bearing surfaces of the matching gibways. The SLIDE SURFACE is held to close tolerance with the press bed. The Pitman connection to the slide is the wrist pin type. While this type of slide construction is more expensive, time has proven it to be more durable and the adjustment more positive.

INCLINABLE MOUNTING and PRESS SUSPENSION-With the exception of the smaller No. 200, 300 and 351B sizes, all Model B presses are mounted on trunions which are part of the body castings ... the front and back studs being used to clamp the machine in position. This construction throws little weight on the studs and eliminates the danger of the press toppling forward due to front stud breakage. One-man jacks are provided on all presses from Model 300B to 800B.

BRAKES-Model B Presses have large size brakes. This allows continuous running without heating and at the same time provides an adjustment to prevent the slide from falling ahead of the wheel in presses using mechanical clutches.

FRAMES-All press frames are made of alloy iron of high tensile strength capable of continuous operation at maximum capacity. These generous cast iron frames give a damping action which minimizes vibration.

AIR CLUTCHES-Air clutches make it possible to operate presses at far greater speeds than machines equipped with mechanical clutches. An air clutch press can be stopped at any position of the stroke at any time .... even at high rates of speed. A PERKINS press thus equipped, can be stopped within one revolution. The crankshaft and wheel are coupled together with no lost motion when working. This assures longer die life and holds rebound to a minimum. Air clutch presses can be operated by remote control and have many provisions for safety attachments- such as OVERLOAD PROTECTION DEVICES, ANTI-STOCK BUCKLING ATTACHMENTS and STOP and START MECHANISMS.

Model B presses can be furnished with longer strokes, higher frames, widened out frames, double crank presses, solid bases, and horizontal mounting. Feed rolls and dial feeds are available for all sizes and models.
